I installed a new driver and the Device Wont Work

Cause: If this happens, you either installed the wrong driver, or the driver is corrupt. In either case, you want to go back to the original driver so that you can try to install it again, or try to use a different driver. Fortunately, Windows XP has a rollback feature that will make this process easy.

To roll back a driver, follow these steps:

1. Log on as an administrator.

2. Click Start--> Control Panel--> System.

3. Click the Hardware tab--> and then click the Device Manager button.

4. In Device Manager--> expand the desired category--> then right-click the desired device and click Properties.

5. Click the Driver tab.

6. Click the Roll Back Driver button--> Follow any instructions that appear.

Tip: The Roll Back Driver feature will not work unless you have installed a new driver, replacing an existing old driver. If the device does not work or does not work well, you must try to install new driver; see the preceding Headache for instructions.
