Clear pagefile on Shut down

Issue:  How to " Clear pagefile on Shut down " for Optimization of PC

Symtom:  When you "Turn ON" PC it is too slow.

Cause:  Optimizing your page file when you`re running low on RAM is always a good idea. When all physical RAM in a computer is in use, Windows starts using the hard disk as if it were additional RAM. This is why we have a Pagefile (also called the swap file). Because RAM memory is a lot more faster than the hard disk, whenever the computer begins to use the Pagefile to relieve memory pressure, we begin to experience a drastic performance degradation.

One of the most effective things you can do to improve performance is ensure that there is enough RAM available to avoid frequent paging (swapping) of memory contents between disk and RAM.

However Microsoft has implemented a feature that will clear the page file but they do not have it enabled by default. Please note, this will significantly increase the amount of time it takes to shut down your computer.

Solution:

Follow the stesp below to accomplish the task:

1. Once your computer’s desktop has loaded, click on the start button and then the “Run” button on the right side of the menu.
For Windows Vista and 7 : You’ll have to open a command prompt in administrator mode by entering cmd into the start menu and hitting Ctrl+Shift+Enter, or right-clicking the command prompt and selecting Run as Administrator.

2. Now in the “Run” window type in “Regedit”.

3. Now from Registry Editor windows double click on “ HKEY_Local_MACHINE “ in left pane.

4. Now double click on “ System “ under “ HKEY_Local_MACHINE “.

5. Now double click on “ Current Control Set “ under “ System “.

6. Now double click on “ Control “ under “ Current Control Set “.

7. Now double click on “ Session manager “ under “ Control “. Again double click on “ Memory management “ under “ Session manager “. Now in the right pane, Right click on Clearpagefileatshutdown and select “ Modify” and now change value to
1 ”.
