Cause
Microsoft Security Essentials cannot be installed on a computer that is running other security programs. Sometimes, even if you remove other security programs, they do not completely uninstall. You must be running a genuine version of the Windows operating system to install Security Essentials.
If your computer is running Windows XP SP2, you might be missing one or more of the following prerequisites for installing Security Essentials:
•Windows Installer 3.1
•Forefront Client Security Filter Manager QFE for Windows XP/SP2
